Most of the time furniture is created to be user-friendly and blend into the theme of the house. Other times, owners will choose unique, and sometimes weird, furniture to adorn their walls, floors, and shelves. If you are a connoisseur of weird furniture or want to see some weird pieces, check out these top fifteen options.

15. Wave City Table
Our first weird furniture selection is called the Wave City Table and was created by Mousarris. Made from wood, steel, and 3-D printing technology, the Wave City is perfect for fans of Inception. Each meticulously carved piece adds realism to the piece, and this table led to the creation of the Mousarris Wave City Family which is featured in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
14. 80s Mixed Object Leather Sofa
If you don’t enjoy mixing two different patterns, you might want to skip this piece of weird furniture. The 80s Mixed Object Leather Sofa looks like a merge between two types of sofas, and the best part is the color is the same throughout. While one end has a standard rectangular cushion, the other has a tubular one reminiscent of the 80s designs.

13. Blowing Armchair
Believe it or not, these are actual balloons. Artist Seung Jin Yang created his balloon furniture by attaching the balloons with adhesive and then covering them in around eight layers of resin. The resin creates a protective coating around the balloon and provides enough stability for an adult to sit down on. Though a piece of weird furniture, I still think these pieces are creative and unique.

12. Desert Lights I
Our twelfth weird furniture piece kind of reminds me of an Ewok, or at least the planet Tattooine. Also known as Desert Lights I, it was created by Jonathan Trayte in 2020. When creating his pieces, Trayte draws inspiration from the surreal aspects of seemingly mundane objects in life, and what we get are statement pieces that will spark conversation.
11. Giant King Crab Sculptural Lounge Chair
There are a few pieces of weird furniture on this list that make me uncomfortable, and this is one of them. The Giant Crab Sculptural Lounge Chair is made by Design Toscano using real crushed stone bonded with designer resin to create each hand-cast piece. It stands on eight legs and also includes pinchers and claws to complete the crab look. This would certainly be a statement piece by the pool.

10. Jazhiel Square Arm Sofa
I’m not sure how to feel about this piece of weird furniture. On the one hand, it is kind of cute, but on the other, I feel like the eyes are staring into my soul. This is the Trinx Jazhiel Sofa, which is made from delicate Italian fabric. In addition to being a soft yellow color, the fabric is dustproof, waterproof, and washable. This could be a fun centerpiece in a kid’s playroom.

9. Candelabra 2 Candle Holder
Not many people have candelabras anymore, and even if you did they probably don’t look like this. The Candelabra 2 Candle Holder looks like it was pulled straight out of a Tim Burton movie, and was created by Michael Gittings. Gittings is a Melbourne-based designer who established his studio in 2016 and prides himself on making curious pieces with his hands.
8. 21st Century Contemporary Green Corner Chair
Our next piece of weird furniture could be called many things, one of which is a corner chair. The 21st Century Contemporary Chair was designed by Giampiero Romanò, who took an ordinary design from the 20th century and revamped it into something completely new. Romanò split the chair in half and rejoined the two pieces with a wide open angle, reinforcing each side with a split leg. In terms of weird furniture, this might be one of the weirdest practical items I’ve seen.

7. Dr. Seuss-Esque Vintage Table Lamp
Dive back into the world of Dr. Seuss with this Vintage French Table Lamp dating back to the 1970s. The French marabou feather and velvet lamp looks similar to the trees in The Lorax, or any quirky design within the world of Seuss. This weird piece of furniture is especially interesting because it is a table lamp, standing 24 inches tall.

6. Primitive Chair
We’re traveling back to the Stone Age for our sixth weird furniture piece. Made in Italy, the Primitive Chair was designed by Newanderthal for Superego Editions, among several other “Stone Age” pieces. Each sculpture is made of polyurethane and painted with a special paint to create a resistant and soft texture, like rubber. In addition to chairs, there are also coffee tables and beds, all made in the shapes of stones.
5. Carpet Chair
If you thought carpets were only for the floor, you might want to look at this piece of weird furniture. The Carpet Chair was created by Mousarris, coming in a range of fine Persian Carpets and styles. Each of the carpets is handmade and can take up to four months to produce. This particular chair gives the illusion of a magic carpet floating in the air.

4. Tyrant T-Rex Resin Side Table
There are several reasons why this T-Rex Side Table creeps me out. First is the weird look in the dinosaur’s eyes as it holds the tabletop above its head, and the second part is the anatomical proportions of the T-Rex. It just looks…off. But it is a perfect selection for our weird furniture list, coming in at number four. Created by Design Toscano, the side table is made out of designer resign with a faux petrified wood top.

3. Molded Plastic Cabbage Chandelier
If you have watched Avatar: The Last Airbender, then this piece of weird furniture may be nostalgic. Or, it could just be an odd design for a chandelier. Made by Feldman Lighting Co., these molded plastic balls are shaped to look like cabbages and fit right over a light fixture to hang from the ceiling. Though this is quite a weird option for lighting, it is kind of fun to look at.
2. Brown Terracotta Mushroom Cabinet
We have finally reached the top two pieces of weird furniture and they will not disappoint. Our second-place selection may be confusing since at first glance it’s not clear what this piece of furniture does. Created by designer Andrii Rudenko, this is just one piece of the Mushrooms collection, which takes a series of utilitarian objects and transforms them with wood polypore mushrooms. This particular piece is a sideboard cabinet, and gives a whole new meaning to bringing wildlife indoors.
1. Perfectly Patinated Plastic Clown Head / Weird Furniture
We have reached the last piece of weird furniture on the list, and this one is borderline creepy. Made in the 1960s, this vintage Ronald McDonald head sculpture would be something to appear in my nightmares. Since the sculpture is hollow, it can even be placed over one’s head where you would look out of the mouth. The weirdest part about this piece is the patina, turning this fun-loving clown into something more sinister. Yikes.
