Whoever said “all good things come to an end” needs a serious talking too. Especially now Vikings Season 6 is upon us — and confirmed as the end:

(For those curious, that quote originated with poet Geoffrey Chaucer).

There is something about a warrior’s tale, fact or fiction, that glues us to sofas. It was true for HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and History’s “Vikings”.

And I know, those shows are massively different. Yet, the connection fans had for both was unique…

Vikings Season 6 Isn’t Over For Everyone

Let’s get one thing straight – it hasn’t finished for everyone…

Vikings Season 6 was split into two parts, 10 episodes each. In some countries, Part B was available on December 30th, 2020. For others, like the folks in Canada, Part B ends March 2021.

The big question is why end a successful series after the sixth season?

Series Creator Michael Hirst Explains Why

In an interview with Collider, series creator Michael Hirst said it was his decision to end it.

(Spoilers ahead).

The reason: it was always meant to end when they discovered America and Newfoundland.

(Spoilers over).

And for those who have watched Part B, Vikings Season 6 delivers on that promise. With Hirst adding in the interview that in Season 6 he was able to do justice to all the characters and plots. While also ending on a climax.

What Do We Know About Vikings: Valhalla?

We know the spinoff is also a sequel. Set 100 years after Part B of the sixth season.

It is being developed by Jeb Stuart, the screenwriter of “Die Hard” and “The Fugitive” — Plus, Michael Hirst is writing all 24 episodes of the first season.

(Vikings + Jeb Stuart + Michael Hirst = We can’t wait to watch).

We also know that the series is being made in Ireland.

One downside to Valhalla, the characters we came to love in Vikings will be gone:

On the flip side, if the formula from Vikings is being followed, we already know that the new characters will be the most influential in Viking history.

When Is Vikings: Valhalla Coming?

We know the pandemic has caused major slowdowns in production. With filming meant to run from March to October 2020. Yet, filming isn’t now expected to end until Spring 2021.

With that in mind, the series might not hit screens until late 2021, or even 2022!

Regardless, Vikings: Valhalla is one show we’re looking forward to watching – whenever it does hit Netflix.
