Obi-Wan vs Darth Vadar: Who’ll Win The Next Round?
Every Star Wars fan already knows a new Obi-Wan Kenobi series is on the way:
However, what they may not know is:
- Only one season is planned…
- And that Hayden Christensen is back to reprise his role as Darth Vadar
These two facts point to one scenario… a face-off between Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan and Vadar.
So, the big question is, who’ll take the deciding round in this trilogy of fights, Obi-Wan vs Darth Vadar?
(We’ve had Round 1 and 3 so far, and it is tied at 1-1. Round 2 is destined to take place during the Obi-Wan Series).

When Does The Obi-Wan Series Take Place?
You might be wondering why the Obi-Wan Kenobi series will be Round 2. The simple answer is because of where the series takes place in the Star Wars timeline:
The series Obi-Wan Kenobi fits between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope (Episode 3 and 4 in the Skywalker Saga):
“The story opens ten years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi suffered his greatest defeat: the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi pupil, Anakin Skywalker, turned wicked Sith Lord Darth Vader.”

Round 1: The First Obi-Wan Vs. Darth Vadar Battle
Kenobi saw Anakin as a friend and a brother and was shocked to learn of his betrayal during the Revenge of the Sith (Ep3):
Desperate for answers, and despite Yoda’s warning that he would only find pain, Kenobi checked the security recordings and discovered that Skywalker had led his clone battalion to attack the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, where he killed Jedi younglings and knelt to the newly proclaimed Emperor.
Kenobi initially refused to battle Anakin, who was now called Vadar by the Emperor, stating that he was like a brother to him and lacked the will to kill him. Yoda replied, that the kid he had trained no longer existed and needed to be put out of his suffering.
When Kenobi finally tracked down Darth Vader, Vader claimed that he’d delivered peace, freedom, justice, and security to “[his] new Empire,” and told Kenobi that if he wasn’t on his side, then he was his enemy:
Kenobi, seeing that his former protégé had gone too far to be reasoned with, determined to stop him at any means, forcing the two to fight.
Conclusion: Kenobi tried again and again in vain to persuade Vader that Sidious was, in reality, evil, but Vader continued to accuse the Jedi. Ultimately, Kenobi got the high ground and left Vadar for dead. Round 1 goes to Kenobi.

Round 3: Obi-Wan Vs. Darth Vadar Battle
Calling the fight between Darth Vadar and Obi-Wan Kenobi, aka, Old Ben, in A New Hope (Ep4) is like calling a father and son playing in the garden with dueling sabers, a battle. It wasn’t:
Every Star Wars fan can agree, it was self-sacrifice. With the older wiser Kenobi letting go and letting Vadar strike him down – although, by the time Vadar’s lightsaber hit Old Ben, Kenobi was already a force ghost.
(A force ghost that would go on to inspire and direct Luke Skywalker into saving the Republic and turning Darth Vadar back into the man Kenobi once knew).
Conclusion: Yet, despite the fact this sacrifice was the first step in winning Annakin (Darth Vadar) back from the dark side, it has to be considered a “real” fight. Therefore, Darth Vadar takes it. Round 3 goes to Vadar.

Round 2: What We Know So Far?
Screenrant.com have already put one and one together, stating the following:
Star Wars already spoiled who will be the winner of this upcoming fight. During Obi-Wan and Darth Vader’s confrontation on the Death Star in A New Hope, the Sith Lord recalled the last time they fought. He says to Kenobi, “When I left you, I was but a learner. Now, I am the master.” This strongly implies that Obi-Wan again bested Vader, his former Padawan, during their encounter

Effectively, Screenrant.com are saying the Obi-Wan vs Darth Vadar trilogy will end up 2-1 to Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan:
However, as a huge Star Wars fan, our prediction is that the Kenobi Series won’t only have one battle between the two characters. And that the Series will leave it as a tie once again. We predict this for two reasons:
- Leaving it with Kenobi as a clear winner means Disney gives nothing to Darth Vadar fans. And they will not go down the route of rubbishing an iconic character again (just look at The Last Jedi backlash).
- Plus, a 2-1 to Darth Vadar is also unlikely because that would mean Disney let a single-season show end with the bad guy winning.
Conclusion: Darth Vadar will win an early battle in the series, but it won’t be a clean victory. It’ll be down to a trap, or betrayal. Yet, before the season ends, Obi-Wan will win in a fairer duel.
This will leave the Obi-Wan vs Darth Vadar scorecard as 2-2:
This scenario gives Disney the opportunity for an Obi-Wan season 2, which will be more focused on watching over Luke, and a Darth Vadar spin-off series. A series which will be Indiana Jones meets Star Wars, as Darth Vadar looks for artifacts to bring him more power.
