Some movies are so bad they’re good. These ten movies don’t fall into that category.

In fact, these are the 10 worst sci-fi movies ever. They have little-to-no qualities, beyond acting as benchmarks in how not to make a movie.

10. Imposter (2001)

With its low production value and uninspired direction, Impostor comes off as a mixture of The Fugitive and Blade Runner, only not as good or as involving. And don’t be fooled by the movie scoring a surprising 6.2/10 on IMDB. It should be a three at most.

9. Heavy Metal 2000 (2000)

If you haven’t heard of this feature-length cartoon movie, then you’re not alone. From what is whispered about it a drunken stupor, this movie is one cliche after another. Earning a 5.4/10 on IMDB.

8. The Lawnmower Man (1992)

On its surface, The Lawnmower Man looked ahead of its time – yet it aged terribly. And instead of becoming an iconic movie, it became a meme factory. All this because it was full of early 90s cliches that just couldn’t stand the test of time. That, and it’s not very good. The movie scored 5.4/10 on IMDB.

7. Fortress 2 Re-Entry (2000)

At the turn of the century, there were many great films being produced and released. Fortress 2 Re-Entry was not one of them. It was a massive box-off debacle and almost a total flop. Though it seems to have been so bad that it is making rounds again due to the mere verse – 4.6/10 on IMDB.

6. Tentacles (1977)

Here’s the plot of Tentacles: ‘A mutated giant octopus wreaks havoc on a Californian seaside town’. A plot that sounds like it could become an iconic B-movie. Instead, the movie was one of the worst of its time. It was so bad, that one critic considered quitting their job. The movie scored a 3.8 out of 10 on IMDB.

5. The Adventures of Pluto Nash (2002)

What was Eddie Murphy thinking? Granted, this was when Eddie Murphy went from R-rated to suitable for kids. However, Pluto Nash’s nightclub owner fighting off the Mafia in space plot did nothing for either families or sci-fi movie fans. Resulting in a universally ignored movie that scored 3.8/10 on IMDB.

4. World of the Dead: The Zombie Diaries 2 (2011)

Ah, the 2010s, when zombies movies were all the rage and somehow fans of the genre would eat up anything. Except for this. World of the Dead: The Zombie Diaries 2, was truly awful. Scoring a surprisingly high 3.8 out of 10 on IMDB.

3. Battle for Skyark (2015)

Most people would never have heard of this movie, but if you have, then it was definitely for the wrong reasons. Filled with the same-old coming-of-age cliches, this kid vs. monsters movie is nonsensical and deserving of its 2.8 out of 10 on IMDB.

2. Battlefield Earth (2000)

When this movie hit theatres in 2000, the idea of a big-budget sci-fi flick starring John Travolta and Forest Whitaker had people’s nerd senses tingling. However, from the moment a trailer hit screens, excitement dropped. And ironically, the movie was even worst than the trailer. Battlefield Earth scored 2.5/10 on IMDB.

1. Baby Geniuses 1 & 2 (1999 & 2004)

Are the movies Baby Geniuses 1 and 2 science fiction? The premise of super-intelligent talking babies held captive by scientists definitely sounds sci-fi. However, there is nothing intelligent about these movies. The original scored a 2.7/10 on IMDB. And the sequel did worst. Earning a 1.9 out of 10. In all honesty, both scores seem high considering the movies.
