July 2023 was a great month for junk wax-era basketball cards sold on eBay, and the legend who stole the show may come as a surprise (not much).
Normally, lists like this end up with Michaell Jordan on top, and despite MJ dominating the Top-25, it’s Shaquille O’Neal who takes the top spot this month.
Ranked from least expensive to most, here’s the Top-25 (many of which are still available today)!

Conclusion
An intriguing entry is the 1989 Los Ases De La Michael Jordan card. Despite having a lower grade of PSA 4, it’s priced at an impressive $791. This showcases that the intrinsic value of some cards is beyond just the player and the condition, possibly hinting at the rareness of that particular edition.
Countering this is Shaquille O’Neal’s 1995 Fleer card, a rare basketball card, with only three graded at PSA 9 and none at PSA 10, yet it commanded a surprisingly low value of $128. The same is true of Shaq’s 1992 Hoops card, priced higher at $265, which is a part of a larger population with 413 graded at PSA 10. Both cards show how value is in the eye of investors, as much as any available population counts.
Despite the oddity over O’Neal’s 1995 Fleer card, there is no denying this legend has big value when it comes to basketball cards from the Junk Wax era. His 1992 Topps card topped July’s list, selling for $1,130 with a PSA 10 grade. Its value is not just reflective of Shaq’s impressive career, but also the card’s rarity and the potential future value attached to it.
