How To Watch The Spider-Man Movies In Order
One of the most well-known and most popular superheroes of all time, Spider-Man didn’t make his Hollywood-screen debut until 2002:
Watching movies by when they were released isn’t always the best way to savor the progression of a character or the evolution of movie-making styles. With this in mind, we’ve compiled a list of The Spider-Man movies in order, chronologically, and by release, so you can pick what is right for you.
All the Spider-Man movies and spinoffs are included in chronological order here without any spoilers.
1. Spider-Man (2002)
Peter Parker debuted in a live-action role for the first time in the film Spider-Man, released in 2002. The upside-down kiss between Tobey Maguire’s portrayal of Spider-Man and Kirsten Dunst’s portrayal of Mary Jane may still be considered one of the most famous kisses in the history of film.
Other memorable moments between the two characters were also included. Oh, and it’s Willem Dafoe’s first picture as Harry Osborne/Green Goblin and J.K. Simmons’s first film as J. Jonah Jameson. Both of these characters are ones that Willem Dafoe and J.K. Simmons would go on to play in subsequent films.

2. Spider-Man 2 (2004)
After a devastating lab accident turns Dr. Otto Octavius into a supervillain in 2004’s Spider-Man 2, Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man must battle Alfred Molina’s Octavius. Two years after the first Maguire film, Spider-Man rescued a runaway train with just his spider strength and web-slinging prowess.
3. Spider-Man 3 (2007)
Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy finishes with Spider-Man 3, which marks Tobey Maguire’s last appearance as Spider-Man (kind of). There were three critical villains in the first two films: Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), Venom (Topher Grace), and a reborn Green Goblin in the third film (James Franco). It’s the most divisive of the first three Spider-Man movies, but it did give us the black Spider-Man suit, so that has to count for something.

Lizard (Rhys Ifans), a disfigured scientist who had worked with Peter’s father, is the movie’s primary adversary.
5. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
As with the previous movies in the Spider-Man series, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 featured a trio of adversaries similar to those in the earlier films. Like, Second in the series, this movie introduced Jamie Foxx as Electro, Paul Giamatti, Dane DeHaan as Rhino, and Dane DeHaan as the Green Goblin. It also set up Venom and the Sinister Six to appear in future movies.
6. Captain America: Civil War (2016)

9. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)

13. Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)
