10. CryptoKitties’ Founder Cat #18 – $110,000 (approx)

The CryptoKitties’ Founder Cat #18 was sold for 253 ETH or $110,000 in December 2020:

CryptoKitties is one of the most popular blockchain games on Ethereum, and it is also the world’s first digital (NFT) cat collection game based on blockchain technology.

9. LeBron James “Cosmic” Dunk #29 – $208,000

Created in 2019 and sold on February 22, 2021, the LeBron James “Cosmic” Dunk #29 was a set of NBA Top Shot 49 collector cards of LeBron James:

It was sold for $208,000 and purchased by well-known NFT trader Pranksy. Pranksy is a highly successful NFT trader who has already made over half a million dollars trading NFTs. He spent 140 ETH on buying LeBron James “Cosmic” Dunk #29.

In fact, LeBron’s Moments have earlier also been some of the most expensive cards traded so far, with the LeBron James Cosmic Dunk selling for $5,200 in October 2020.

NBA Top Shot tokens were the first product to be launched on Dapper Lab’s Flow blockchain.

8. F1® Delta Time’s 1–1–1 – $270,000 (approx)

1-1-1 is the first digital NFT car that F1® Delta Time released:

This was an official limited edition, and there was only one such NFT released in the world. The car sold for 415.9 ETH (the Etherium cryptocurrency), which is approximately $270,000.

It was revealed in November 2020 that the buyer was Metakovan, who is an entrepreneur, coder, and angel investor in blockchain technology.

7. CryptoKitties’ Dragon – $390,000 (approx)

The most expensive price paid for an NFT kitty to date is the renowned CryptoKitties’ Dragon. This cute electronic cat was purchased for 600 ETH, or over $390,000:

Dragon broke the record of Founder Cat #18 which was sold earlier. Dragon was also one of the nine Aliens on offer and was originally released by Larva Labs.

6. CryptoPunk #4156 – $1.3 million (approx)

Created in 2017 and sold on February 18, 2021, CryptoPunk #4156 was sold for 650 ETH, or $1.3 million:

It was originally released by Larva Labs, in fact, CryptoPunks are the first NFTs ever.

Larva Labs released a fixed set of 10,000 in mid-2017, and since then, they have become an inspiration for many other NFTs that followed.

5. CryptoPunk #6965 – $1.6 million (approx)

CryptoPunk #6965 was created in 2017 and sold on February 19, 2021. It was sold for 800 ETH or $1.6 million:

This was also one of nine Aliens created and released by Larva Labs. It was made on the Ethereum blockchain.

4. First Tweet By Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey – $2.9 million (approx)

On March 22, 2021, the first Tweet by Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey sold as an NFT for $2.9 million, or 1630.5 ETH:

The tweet simply said ‘just setting up my twttr’ and was published on March 21, 2006. A digitally autographed version of this tweet was purchased by Sina Estavi, who is the CEO of the Malaysian blockchain service Bridge Oracle.

The NFT of this tweet was purchased on Valuables, which is a digital platform that allows the buying and selling of tweets autographed by their creators. Dorsey donated the proceeds to charity.

3. CryptoPunk #7804 – $7.566 million (approx)

Sold on March 10, 2021, CryptoPunk #7804 was also sold for 4200 ETH, the same amount as CryptoPunk #3100 (next on this top-10):

However, due to the changing value of ETH, its USD sale price was $7.566-million. Around $18k less than the next CryptoPunk on this list.

2. CryptoPunk #3100 – $7.584 million (approx)

Cryptopunk #3100 was sold on March 11, 2021, for 4200 ETH, which is equivalent to $7.584-million.

The sale broke the previous record set by the sale of CryptoPunk 7804 just one day before due to the increase in ETH prices:

Cryptopunk #3100 was one of the nine Aliens on offer that were originally released by larva Labs.

1. Everydays: The First 5000 Days by Beeple – $69.3 million (approx)

Sold on March 11, 2021, this was the first piece of purely NFT-based artwork sold at major auction house Christie’s:

And it made an astonishing $69.3 million. Easily becoming the most expensive NFT ever.

Beeple, whose real name is Mike Winkelmann, created history with the sale of this NFT. Winkelmann’s NFT was a jpeg file of a digital collage that had 5000 daily futuristic images that he had made every day from May 1, 2007, till January 7, 2021.

The NFT was purchased by Vignesh Sundaresan, who is the founder of the Metapurse NFT Project.

Amazingly, this purchase does not include the copyright ownership of the artwork. This means that the buyer of the NFT from the auction does not have the right to sell any of the individual images.

In fact, in the same week, Winkelmann went ahead and auctioned one of these individual images for $6 million on the NFT marketplace Nifty Gateway.
