Props from the Hershey Biopic
According to Carey Auctions in a press release, “The auction includes a wide array of authentic props used during filming— from period furnishings and antiques to vintage set décor—all reflecting the rich historical aesthetic of Hershey’s era.”
The extensive catalog ranges from small glassware to statement pieces like a Victorian marble-top ice cream parlor table with four heart-back chairs. Other prospective collectibles include candy jars, an antique English tall-case clock, an antique oak wall phone, and a tin Coca-Cola advertising sign.
Carey Auctions has all the items displayed on its website, including images, descriptions, bidding start and end times, and registration details.
Background About the Film

The Hershey biopic was a major production, shooting across Pennsylvania earlier this year. Principal photography ended after more than seven weeks of location shooting, using 17 Pennsylvania locations, 74 designed sets, and an extensive costume wardrobe that consisted of 300 principal costumes and more than 2,000 background costumes.
The film spans roughly five decades of Milton Hershey’s life and has lead actors Finn Wittrock and Alexandra Daddario portraying Milton and Catherine “Kitty” Hershey, respectively.
With local news and television stations covering the auction, Carey Auctions is providing Pennsylvania residents with the chance to own items that transformed contemporary streets into late-19th- and early-20th-century settings.
The online auctions are open to bidders nationwide, so anyone can get a piece of the action.

The Impact of Large-Scale Period Productions

Beyond the excitement of the auction, the event itself highlights how large-scale period productions convert local resources into props and memorabilia.
With dozens of locations, hundreds of costumes and sets, and a large number of background performers, the world was transformed back into the era in which Milton Hershey built his empire and philanthropic institutions.
Plus, for collectors, the sales offer more than just furniture and glassware. All of these pieces were put together to convey a cinematic version of a classic American story, and will probably increase the final value of several of these products.
Add to Your Collection
Carey Auctions and the film’s producers see this sale as a way to recycle and repurpose production assets after filming, and place items with collectors and movie buffs who will prize these items for years to come.
Whether to be a main display, augment a period interior, or just as a local filming keepsake, these lots will be available until they conclude later this month.
