5. 8Bitdo Lite Bluetooth Gamepad, $25

If all you need is a d-pad for gaming, the 8Bitdo Lite Bluetooth Gamepad is one of the best controllers available today:

It is perfect for smaller hands as it has a compact design. It’s available in different colors and is Bluetooth. This means it can work with your Switch, Switch Lite, and even your PC.

The controller is a similar thickness to the Switch Joy-Con paddle, and its two d-pads replace the usual analog sticks. Which does limit accuracy on some games but improves playability on others. For example, the pad is terrible on Fortnite but fantastic for Super Smash Bros.

Best yet, the 8Bitdo Lite gamepad is priced at only $25 and can often be found on sale.

If you’re big on the NES and SNES classics or want a controller that is a little more classic PlayStation-esque, the 8Bitdo SN30 Pro Controller should top your shopping list. Especially at $50.

This controller gives a great old-school feel, putting the d-pad directly under the thumb while giving ergonomic access to thumbsticks and all-facing buttons.

This controller even has a little homage to the classic SNES controller of yesteryear, but betters Nintendo’s official SNES controller for the Switch, as that doesn’t support analog sticks.

Priced at a much lower $25, the PDP Faceoff Deluxe+ Audio Wired Controller comes with a headphones jack, a feature fairly common on most other console controllers – but fairly unique when it comes to the Switch.

This makes the PDP Faceoff Deluxe+ perfect for games that need voice chat, like Fortnite, etc.

The controller has a solid plastic build, handy programmable buttons on the rear to allow for mapping extra inputs, as well as comfortable and satisfying sticks and triggers:

However, the controller does not have an HD rumble and is wired.

Carrying a hefty price tag of around $70, the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is considered to be the best of the bunch when chasing a top spot on multiplayer Switch games like Splatoon 2:

The controller is known for providing maximum precision, offering a comfortable and sturdy ergonomic design. Along with textured grips that improve handling over long playing periods.
